Work Experience
London Structures Lab (LSL) – Graduate Structural Engineer
(September 2021 – Present)
At LSL, I have been an active member of the sustainability team in research and documentation of the company’s commitment to net zero. I attended a CPD by the IStructE on embodied carbon basics and have applied the structural carbon tool to assess different structural schemes at different stages for various projects. My commitment to sustainability has led me to evaluate the embodied carbon of structures and understand our responsibility as designers to meet LETI and SCORS targets. Outside of work, I have attended Passivhaus webinars to continue my learning and stay up to date with developments within this space.
I have worked closely with senior engineers to deliver a broad variety of projects, from historical refurbishments and affordable housing, to high end commercial and modular design with values ranging from £4m to £35m. In working on projects at different stages, from concept design to construction, I have collaborated with architects, MEP, and contractors to assess material options and structural schemes, integrate services and design for plant space, as well as attend site visits and resolve issues that appear during the construction phase.
Bryden Wood Limited (BWL) – Undergraduate Civil & Structural Engineer
(August 2017 – August 2018)
The varied nature of tasks undertaken has given me a range of technical and analytical skills, while opportunities to collaborate with contractors and present to clients have improved my communication and presentation skills. At BWL, I was introduced to Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), a driver for sustainable design, and helped develop this innovation.
Working within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment, I learnt the importance of prioritising and time-management to meet set deadlines. Collaborating with architects and the CAD team, attending site visits, working with structural drawings and seeing the application of engineering and problem-solving in the real world has developed my practical understanding of this field.

Positions of Responsibility
Social Secretary, University of Bath
(September 2018 - July 2019)
As a member of the Architecture & Civil Engineering (ACE) committee in my penultimate year, I organised monthly events for over 400 members which required organisation and balancing the demands of my role as social secretary, along with coursework and lectures.
Secours Populaire Francais, France
(September 2020 - September2021)
While volunteering for a non-profit organisation, Secours Populaire Français, I worked in a team to distribute unsold food from local supermarkets to over 120 families a week throughout the global pandemic. I introduced systems of tracking stock to avoid shortages and took the initiative of suggesting and then managing a debit card payment system to make us more accessible to the cashless refugees and asylum seekers we support.
At the same non-profit organisation, I volunteered as a bike mechanic, giving unwanted bicycles collected from local recycling centres a second life and improving the mobility of the community we support. Cycling and repairing bikes remains one of my many hobbies today.
