Low-Carbon Building
University of Bath, 2016/2017
I worked in a team to design a low-energy home. Named the “Teletubbies House”, our windows were carefully positioned to maximise natural daylight and achieve effective natural ventilation in the home. We incorporated a combination of solar panels and water collection systems within the envelope of our building, and discussed material options for thermal comfort.
There are a myriad of ways to achieve a low carbon footprint, however what this project instilled in me is to adapt the right measures for the right situations and to consider the whole life cycle of the building; from the initial transport of materials to maintenance and performance after completion.
