Timber Footbridge
University of Bath, 2016/2017
I encouraged my group to adopt a creative approach, backed by apt structural understanding, to design a cost-effective timber bridge that connected two buildings on campus. Together, we analysed the load paths through a fixed arch, acting in tension, held by a timber truss system with members acting in compression.
However, looking back at this design, I have identified areas for improvement such as:
• Connecting diagonals to the deck instead of the light-weight roof
• Fixed end connections
